Editorial
Standards
CryptoToolAdvisor is an independent editorial publication. Our reviews and recommendations are based on structured evaluation — not on advertising relationships, affiliate commissions, or vendor influence. Where possible, we conduct hands-on testing; some comparisons are research-based. This page explains exactly how we maintain that independence.
Six editorial commitments we hold without exception
Rankings are based on evaluation, not relationships
No tool can purchase a higher rating, a 'Best Pick' badge, or a featured placement on CryptoToolAdvisor. Our rankings are determined by our evaluation scores — based on hands-on testing where conducted, and structured research otherwise. A tool with a high affiliate commission rate is evaluated with the same rigor as one with no affiliate program at all.
Affiliate relationships are disclosed, not hidden
When we link to a tool using an affiliate link, we earn a commission if you purchase through that link. This is disclosed at the top of every review and comparison page. Affiliate income helps fund our testing and keeps the site free to read — but it never influences our scores or recommendations.
Reviews are written independently
Tool companies do not review, approve, or influence our content before publication. We do not share drafts with vendors. We do not accept free accounts in exchange for favorable coverage. Where hands-on testing is conducted, accounts are created and paid for independently. For research-based comparisons, we draw on public documentation, pricing pages, and verified user feedback.
We correct errors transparently
If we publish incorrect pricing, feature information, or a factual error, we correct it promptly and note the correction at the bottom of the affected page. We do not silently edit reviews to remove unfavorable information.
Reviews are updated, not abandoned
Crypto tools change frequently. We aim to revisit published reviews regularly. When a tool's pricing, features, or quality changes significantly, we update the review and note the update date. Outdated information is a form of misinformation in this space.
Negative findings are published
If a tool performs poorly in testing — slow support, inaccurate tax reports, confusing onboarding — we say so in the review. We do not suppress negative findings because of an affiliate relationship. Readers deserve honest assessments, not marketing copy.
How our rankings are determined
Every ranking on this site is derived from our hands-on testing scores. The following factors determine where a tool ranks:
What never influences our rankings
How affiliate relationships work on this site
Plain language disclosure: Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This income helps fund our testing and keeps the site free to read. It does not influence which tools we recommend or how we score them.
We participate in affiliate programs for some of the tools reviewed on this site. Not every tool we review has an affiliate program — and some tools we recommend highly have no affiliate relationship at all. Our recommendations are based on testing quality, not commission potential.
When a tool we recommend has an affiliate program, we use affiliate links. When it doesn't, we link to the tool's official website directly. In both cases, the recommendation is based on the same testing criteria.
Affiliate disclosures appear at the top of every review and comparison page that contains affiliate links. We comply with FTC guidelines and use rel="sponsored" on all affiliate links per Google's webmaster guidelines.
